Remember the Titans

I typically don’t spend time thinking about clothes; instead I prefer to listen to music, run through the hills, ride my bike, and sketch out plans for my dream farm, (i.e where the goats will live in relation to the pond with the rope swing… And in which position the various varieties of fruit trees will be planted in the orchard to facilitate pollenization and make the best use of space.) That being said I have fallen in love with a pair of shorts: The Prana Titans.

I really can’t believe how amazing these things are! The fabric, a lightweight micro-weave of 70% cotton and 30% nylon, is quick drying and wrinkle resistant. The cut is both athletic and casual with mesh cargo pockets accessible not only from above, but also from a "secret" side zipper access as well. At the outset of the Great Sitting I had planned to wear “cycling gear” (spandex shorts and jersey) to ride in, but back in Pt. Reyes, on day two, I found myself wearing the Titans to breakfast. There was no place to comfortably change into cycling shorts… so I rode all day in the Titans. It was amazing to not be constricted by the tight, tight, tight, fitting cycling shorts. I did at times however miss the padding; and with the decision to go commando I did “flop around” quite a bit.

On day three I tried the Titans with boxers; day four Titans with boxer briefs; day five Titans with briefs; and day six Titans over padded cycling shorts. These combinations all have their merits and it’s hard to choose my favorite set up, though I have attempted to do so on the graph below.

It’s has been difficult, like trying to measure my love of the movie “Remember the Titans” against the NFL Football Titans in relation to Titan, the largest moon of Saturn (larger than mercury and Pluto).

It’s like trying to choose a favorite among: peppered rocks of granite, red rocks of cinder, and aged basaltic rocks covered in Lichen.

If only it were as easy as comparing two men’s propensity to frighten when no fears are hidden; Mike Vs. Jeff, in dark, desolate forests, at night.

That would be great!
