Have you ever been to Jamaica? If you answered yes, then how was it? If you answered no, then why not?

There’s so much to do on the little island surrounded by Caribbean waters. From climbing the waterfalls to playing with adorable dolphins and learning the history of a reggae legend (Bob Marley), you’ll never get bored.

In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the amazing things you can do in the tourist capitals of Jamaica. We’ll highlight the top activities, give you an idea of where they are located, what you need to bring and what you can expect when you go.

So without further delay, here we go.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Ocho Rios is one of the tourist hubs of the island. There you’ll find loads of holiday resorts, craft vendors and sights to take in. Cruise ships regularly dock in this area throughout their journey and allow tourists to explore the land.

But what can you do in Ocho Rios? Well, there’s a lot of options for you to choose from.

Firstly, there’s Dunn’s River Falls which sees thousands and thousands of visitors yearly (especially during the busy peak seasons). Here you’ll find the heavy falls flowing into the sea. There, you can climb it with the assistance of tour guides, or you can take the challenge yourself and climb from the bottom to the top. Entry fees are quite reasonable, and there’s other stuff you can do like the lounge on the beach or seek out one of the guys on Jet Skis for a unique experience (note: these guys don’t work at the attraction, but it’s all in the name of fun).

Another popular Jamaica attraction at this location is Mystic Mountain. Are you familiar with the movie Kool Runnings? If you are, then you’ll love the bobsled ride that’s here. It’s a unique ride which you’ll only find here. You sit in a sled which you propel by using your controls. It’s meant to mimic you going down an icy path (as if you’re in the Olympics). Now prices may be considered a little bit high but well worth it. There are a ton more things you can do here as well such as the canopy tour, the skyline tour and even sliding down the water slide into liquid paradise.

Negril, Jamaica

Negril is another popular resort town that’s loved by tourists. While there’s not a ton of hot spots as you would find in Ocho Rios or even Montego Bay, tourists love Negril because it’s so close to the beautiful beach.

There’s one main attraction here that people love the most and it’s Rick’s Cafe. It has been around from as far back as 1974 and has been rated as one of the top places to check out in your lifetime.

But what makes it so attractive?

Apart from the clear liquor which people love, there’s cliff diving! Tourists line up just to take a plunge into the ocean. You’ll have to have the heart of a lion if you think of doing this though, there are heights of up to 35 – 70 feet that people jump from into the sea.

There are areas you can jump from that’s not as high (feel free to take those on if this intimidates you). Another reason why you’ll find this location packed with tourists is the sunsets. If you’re a photographer, there’s no better place to take a few snapshots than Rick’s Cafe. The sun usually sets around 6 – 6:30 PM in Jamaica, and if you’re on this side of the island, it’s quite a sight to see. Apart from this location, there’s a ton of spots to see the sun rise.

The next location we think you should check out in Negril is the water theme park. It’s called Kool Runnings (appropriately named off of the Jamaican movie). Here you can relax in the slow moving river or try one of the many slides like the “duppy conqueror.” It’s quite a treat and fun for the whole family.
